Dunsborough women out of cupMonday, 27 April 2009 00:00 The Dunsborough Towners women team were given a harsh lesson in power football when they were swamped 9-1 by Bunbury Dynamo in a South West Times Women’s Premier League cup encounter at the Dunsborough Playing Fields on Monday.Like their men’s Premier and Premer Reserve teams they had to front up two days in succession to play in the League and the Cup matches against a club that had the luxury of an eight day rest. All three Dunsborough teams had difficult matches that ended in three draws on the Sunday. There is no doubt that exhaustion played a major factor in all three Dunsborough matches on the Monday. However, for the Women there was more than tiredness in the result – they were just outclassed on the day Most clubs in this year’s competition will struggle to make an impact against Dynamo. Last year the Towners twice came close to beating Dynamo with a team that possessed a couple of natural strikers but who have since left the club. It was some consolation that Dunsborough scored through Belinda Perna It was encouraging for the club that such a loss didn’t appear to sap the enthusiasm of the players. They have a chance this week to demonstrate their spirit when they will have to face Dynamo again in a league clash in Dunsborough on Sunday. |
