The Dunsborough Diamonds suffered their worst mauling of the season when they collapsed to a 7-0 defeat at the hands of Bunbury United in a Womens Premier League football mach at the Bunbury Superdrome on Sunday.
By half-time the match was virtually over as far as a contest was concerned with Bunbury having established a 4-0 lead. The second-half saw a much more determined Dunsborough though it was more a rearguard action with Chelsie Winchcombe Dene Mayers and Jules Olsen in the thick of the action. Unfortunately they were forced to play without regular goalkeeper Stacey Rouse, bustling competitive midfielder Joey Schleuter and regular goalscorer Narelle Jeffery. This year the Diamonds have been a competitive outfit without gaining positive results and have caused problems for a number of clubs But on Sunday the Diamonds had few answers on a day with everything that the opposition touched turning to gold. They certainly couldn’t solve the striking power of Nicole Spinelli who scored four goals, two in each half. Goals to Lori Gardiner, Summer Parravacini and Dominique Fedelle added to the impressive scoreline. Dunsborough had the odd chance but generally Bunbury’s goalkeeper Eryn Gardiner had little to save. Dunsborough line-up: Grace Lindsay, Dene Mayers, Chelsie Winchcombe, Anna McBride, Emma Olsen, Amelia Lotze, Jules Olsen, Kate French, Natalie Hill, Brooke Steinki, Min Harding. Substitutes: Erin French, Mia Halse, Brooke Johannessen. Player of the match: Chelsie Winchcombe |
